Previously, Magik and Dani fought against the being known as Liminal and managed to imprison him at the cost of her sidekick Cal being used as a seal and eventually possessing his human body. Dani decided to seek help of the Society of the Eternal Dawn, who have been trying to find a way to seperate Liminal from Cal. Magik, despite her suspicions of the Society and their leader, accepts a mission to retrieve a magic artifact in Las Vegas that could help them. And without Doctor Strange being around to help her, time is running out...
