Zeta and ZZ are two separate series but ZZ is a direct sequel to Zeta. Don't be too intimidated, tons of people don't watch ZZ and are fine. Its reputation is earned, in fact I wouldn't watch ZZ right after Z since the whiplash is real no matter how much /m/ tries to pretend otherwise. I'd consider Zeta to be a treat but ZZ is more of a chore.
