i mean that's the thing right, imo prince daddy is lo-fi (fucking love hidden track though), and mouse on the keys sounds fine but maybe a little underproduced, and then american football sounds incredible (i always thought it was so smart how they tuck the kick back in order to make everything feel pillowy even though it's still rock music) BUT it's too 90s sounding to ever pass for radio today in terms of its lack of warmth -- like today i would mix and master it quite louder, keep the perfect airy top end but add oeksound soothe to it and then get some body to it just through bus compression/sat...
but like i'm referencing to modern phoebe bridgers mixes and productions because idk, i guess we want radio

^^shit like this where it's like, idk, not out of place on modern radio, just it so happens to be emo / math rock
so taking what you SAID to heart though and it's like, idk maybe i switch the drums from sticks to brushes to get the average LUFS down, y'know?
then i remove the body from the acoustic guitar so it's mostly transient information
then we have something pretty pillowy that can be mastered as loud as phoebe bridgers
