they’re gonna take like 2 weeks so i figured i’d work on some new demos in the meantime:

^this one’s fully written but i’m so lazy to do a multitrack demo for it cos i’m like “why guitar?”
like, i only ever write with it cos it’s a midrange element that i’m good at playing, but if you mix/master this song modern/loud, that guitar part is going to be so fatiguing, and FOR WHAT PURPOSE? because it’s easy for me to play at our non-existent live shows?

^with that said, i experimented tonight with that same song on an omnichord emulation. i’ve always kinda wanted one because our music sounds so much like adventure time, but… idk, people tend to think we sound overproduced if our music doesn’t have 100% analog elements (UGH)
*IF ANYONE HERE PREFERS THIS VERSION, I’LL GO OUT AND BUY AN OMNICHORD ON FRIDAY. JUST LET ME KNOW*

^this one i want to be the lead single, we just tracked real drums for it. idk i just think it’s a good pop song. i can’t imagine it would sound better with synths than guitar
idk
these days i vacillate between “oh golly this is shaping up to be a great album, look at how different all the songs are” and “wow we have no established sound, this record doesn’t provide a cohesive experience”
my ex was kinda like grimes. she’d probably enjoy this record most if it was just acoustic guitar and 1 or 2 synth songs. that’s the thing though— all these songs are DESCRIPTIVE of our idiosyncrasies/neuroses, but i’d really like to write a song that’s a PRESCRIPTIVE cure for this hole that i’m in. i’d like to make a relationship LAST with that woman, but i don’t know how, so instead it’s just 16 indie pop songs that say “i’d be happy to try again if you ever came back around”
