Took the ship size from some fucking wiki and then eyeballing it from there. Never claimed I did a scientific survey, on the cartoon I never watched. And hey, I mean I'm not even saying blasting some dude with a ships phaser ain't a cool concept. Just noticing that a ship of that size likely has a phaser that even at smallest settings is gonna be several sizes larger than this man.
Pic semi related, this is Elite Dangerous and a class 4 multicanon compared to a human. Elites ships are likely smaller than a texas class. Remember these ships are FUCK HUGE. I found one source online claiming the Texas class is 350m in length, which would make it even taller than my estimate.
So the weapons of these ships. If one ever got stranded on earth, the fucking hole the shot comes out of, is gonna be large enough for you to get all your shit and comfortably live in there. And ship weaponry is designed to overwhelm shields, and then blast through ship hulls, which are designed to withstand phaser fire. If you aimed it at a human, not only would the human not be there any more, depending on intensity, the entire city block might not be there any more.

Looks to me like this is a classic case of "Space shit is as big as it needs to be for the scene". Happened in ToS and TNG all the time.
