Not true. Very very not true. Especially with fine stuff you dont want to pay for bottom of the barrel stuff of course but the difference between bottom of the barrel and solid mid tier is big while not that big in money while the difference between mid and god tier is not that big but huge in money.
You really would need to aquire a taste and make it a ritual for that which can be done sure.
This applies to wine and whisky or stuff like this too.
