I suspect that women are into cute things because of maternal instincts, after all babies are cute because they've got big eyes and a big forehead like Sanrio characters do. A lot of the games women like are centered around domestic tasks associated with feminine gender roles like farming, interior decor, resource management, raising little creatures, etc. These games also tend to be low-stress and relaxing. Perhaps the lack of testosterone makes women overall less competitive and the way the female brain is wired makes then more inclined to be better at certain tasks, like finding the perfect layout for the furniture in their house in Animal Crossing and organizing chests in Minecraft. There's always exceptions of course but I figure that's the gist of it.

On another note, that post earlier in the thread about hidden object games is incredibly true. I raise you "spot the difference" and Tetris-adjacent games as well. My mom loves those.
