I feel like music in general was more discussion-worthy in the late 2000s and early 2010s. There would be albums that would come out and everybody would be talking about them. Plus buying music (or just pirating it) was more popular before streaming and that promotes a more active experience since you actually have to go out and grab the music yourself and curate your own library. With streaming most people just seem to put on whatever and only half pay attention to it while scrolling some sloppa feed. Or maybe I'm just getting old.
