All warhammer is sorted into folders by system and then faction
About a third of those warhammer factions are sorted into folders by unit type
All models for other games (gaslands, MESBG, etc) are sorted by game or creator and release where possible
All terrain is sorted by creator and release
There are further folders for 3d printer accessories, hobby accessories, game accessories, books and PDFs, paint range swatches and so on.

All files have been deduplicated using paid software to make sure I'm not storing 4 versions of the same file with two different names in english, one in spanish, and one in russian or whatever

About 2/3 of the whole drive has had its files renamed to the following convention:
>{creator} - {original filename} - {keywords e.g. unit name, armor mark}
So that I can search the drive for e.g. "tactical squad" or "warboss" and will get everything possible in the search results.

The archive is stored according to the 3-2-1 backup strategy:
>3 copies of the data
>stored across 2 different devices
>1 of which is in a different location to the others

In case of catastrophic loss of all devices at some unspecified point in the future, I've also created a physical backup of 18 of the factions, by which I mean I've printed, sealed, and stored 18 armies for future use.
