Behold, the Conqueror Worm! After everybody gets banged, the city is sealed off by the government and the citizens break up into factions based on powers, social classes, or whatever organizations existed previously. The city-state of Dakota is kept running only by the informal agreements that maintain the infrastructure everyone needs. The nightbreed are no different, ruling the underground and keeping everyone else out with the threat of any fight damaging power and water lines, or even collapsing anything above the battleground. And the sudden source of new meta-muscle means that a lot of people have taken interest even with the government trying to keep anyone from leaving.

Me? I dig good, which is an important skill for underground life. Repairing damage, making space for all the new arrivals, and tunnels everywhere. Not everyone wants to stay in Dakota, and being able to smuggle someone out or smuggle things in is a skill in high demand. This would be a pretty easy life even under the current circumstances if it wasn't for all the supervillains and conflicts that threaten to spill into the underground.
