The problem is that any other mode of exchange that you're going to choose would end up having the exact same structure. You would just have some different mode of currency. "Good will" is a form of currency. "Respect" is a form of currency.

It sounds like your frustration is having to work around minorities and scummy people. You want to work among your own people in a high trust society. There are a million little towns across the USA you could move to where that life exists, but you would never live in any of them and your presence in them would end up tainting them anyway.
