I don't really care about mods. It's just cosmetic other characters and the default roster satisfies me. I might get Kirby but that's just because one of my friends is getting the game and I want to play with them.

Union does have some Sonurge bait. Sonic saves Surge's life twice in Union. Mostly after fighting her down during a self-destruction spiral.
Though, Union has no canon ships. So it's up to you whatever you want to headcanon.

Clem helped me write Union's lore and wanted a Sonurge reading to be based in canon as an 'enemy to lovers' thing. it has the most potential during stories where both work against the forces of Julian Robotnik on the Acorn Continent. Surge's 'intended ships' in Union content are either with Kit or Sonic. Anything else is fine but far from intended.
I don't care about people shipping Union Sonurge, I just don't really enjoy canon Sonurge since it feels horrifically OOC and the IDW comics are so terrible.
