No, it definitely needed to be settled properly, and in a happily-ever-after mickey mouse bullshit manner if possible because that was what they were building up for. It was doubly important because the major first part of the show was about how Hime fucked everything up and Iona was pissed off about it and in the end it got swept under the rug in a 5 second scene where Hime's parents (who are the rulers of Iona's homeland too) didn't even get a voice role. Instead, make way for Megumi's love life retardation.
Hacha has its good moments, but everything involving Hime past the 2nd cour is half baked and unfinished, which is a shame because they had some real potential for gold there which can be seen from how they handled the whole Megumi vs. Mirage battle.
