Of course, because you're a late millennial, so you never grew up in the culture/architecture/technology that made people sit close up.
I mean, you can't even hold the controller for vintage consoels comfortably if you actually sat at the FCC and ESRB regulated viewing distance because the cord is too short.
SHIT, and that's another reason why kids sat close to their consoles, because kids tend to flail around, so you needed at least an extra foot of slack cord so they don't pull their console right out of the entertainment center. 5 feet was barely enough.
I'm gen X, thus, i sit close when playing on my CRT, because that's how everyone used to do it.
And what's wrong with sitting up close, other than some kids who never grew up without the internet finding it "weird"?
