It's implied to be a spell that allows the user to probe the future while asleep by trying and retrying diffent actions, it's similar to King Crimson or Hunter Hunter's parallel future except Serie gets multiple tries and has personal agency in her visions rather than merely seeing some predetermined future roll by which allows her to do more extreme things like killing everything and seeing what happens.
