I'm of the opinion the spread of oceans was much faster than the old science wanted to think.
I once did some math with the Adam's expanding earth, and I basically proved it to myself that a small global growth per year tracks some amazing things in very short order. Basically we leaned too hard on Uniformitarianism to explain everything. It's not that the processes were lab science different than we thought, the math on charges hasn't changed.
It's that we don't account for physiological changes that we've never seen, thus the earth level theory to geology is wrong.
