During Golden Horde Mongols weren't nomadic at all. They bringed Moscovites (and other Ruthenian people) Asian way of fortification. That's why Russian kremlins look like Chinese forts (built under Mongolian rulers as well), but with towers that are more pseudo-oriental than pagoda-looking.
