Arthas didn't destroy the sunwell, the scourge, trolls and blood elves were in a big fight for it so Kael'thas decided to blow it up to prevent it from being use for evil, HOWEVER alexstraza's consort korialstrasz gathers the remaining essence of the sunwell and somehow forms it in to a human woman name Aveena (how and why? don't ask you don't need to know)

Aveena saves kalec from dying and they have some vaguely romantic adventures but eventually kael'thas captures her and then starts funneling her essence back in to the sunwell to summon kil'jaden, we run that plan and anveena sacrifices herself to restore the sunwell fully
