If you think it's cool, by all means take it. I've never had success with it, but your millage may vary. The origin feat also gives you the ability to swap the spell on level up, so if you feel like you don't get good use from speak with animals, you can swap it to something else later.

>Spell Change. Whenever you gain a new level, you can replace one of the spells you chose for this feat with a different spell of the same level from the chosen spell list.

>I am an Illusion wizard.
Entangle may not be an illusion spell, but you can describe it as "ethereal transparent vines" to make them seem like illusions. It doesn't even need to be vines. Or flavor them as ghostly purple chains that rise from the ground ot wrap your enemies. You can take a page out of Pathfinder for your illusion jargon.

In the case of entangle, if your DM is cool with it, entangle is made of shadow. Real enough that it affects people who don't believe it (people who pass the save on entangle aren't restrained but are still affected by the difficult terrain) but when the spell ends it still disappears.
