On the topic of character IP, the most terrifying thought keeping me awake at night is the fallout scenario of a gacha releasing characters with the same traits and looks as mine, essentially rendering them cheap carbon copies forever to be compared with their popular version. Gachas are haunting slop machines with a lot of money so they can hire teams of experts to dig out every possible character combination under the sun to maximize earnings and recognition, and in the end character just sits in their gacha catalogue, left unexplored and underdeveloped, but used to permanently plant a flag on its design and quirks that makes any other lookalike an inferior derivative amid the anime zeitgeist. These weeks it almost happened to me again, as in the gacha character had the same aesthetic quirk and a barely different name. Haunting stuff
