The Jesus story is just a rehash of the Prometheus story.
Prometheus goes to a summit of the gods where they decide what sacrifice is due to them by humanity. Prometheus takes a bunch of skin, fat, and bones and dummies it up to make it look delicious. He offers Zeus the choice between the fake food made of garbage or some regular meat and Zeus picks the bones. From that point forward humanity only had to offer the useless parts of the animal as a sacrifice to the gods. Zeus retaliates by taking fire away from mankind. Everyone gets this part of the story wrong. Prometheus doesn't give fire to humanity. He steals it back after Zeus takes it away. As punishment for that Prometheus is chained to a rock and has his liver eaten by a bird.

The point of the story is eliminating animal sacrifice rules and a god takes the torturous punishment meant for humanity. Sound familiar?
Except the Christian version of the story is founded on the idea that animal sacrifices are needed to repent for sins. And a human sacrifice of a god is such a big sacrifice that it forgives all sins.
God could just change his own fucking rules, but apparently he needs to go through this whole blood magic shit first. Also condemning an entire race of people until the end of time for some reason.
