You are right I do think they are very basic and plain looking as they are now. Your idea is really cool. But dbs was too lazily made by the old man to have real any effort or cool ideas put in it. I read somewhere here one day Toriyama lost all passion for dragon ball

Here's my two cents. From about the time I wake up to around 11-12pm EST the threads are good. Then from 1-8pm they are pretty shit. At 9pm the threads are comfy and the funniest they are the whole day.
