But the kids still did that. Rather it's worse because the kids still do that in general. The first half when they're not power scaling and letting forms get better control of the powers they already have is fine, but then we start slapping in mega's that bench the rest of the cast, to then go on the worse jobbing streak I've not seen ever again in Japanese media (and this is accounting Zero-One's entire president saga) only to then 180 before the last 3 EP's. Got Frontiers was shit beyond a few designs.
