"No, that wouldn't make any sens-" Herta paused, a smug smile crawling onto her face. "Actually, Master, that's genius idea! And if Aila hangs around the Holy Haven you built me often enough she'll slowly fall under your influence, Master. And you're way better than that dumb stinky nerd goddess." You didn't know what she meant by 'your influence' but it sounded like something you were gonna talk to her about later.
"Hold on, let me get this right; you're saying there's more than one Saintess?" You asked, trying to change the subject before Herta crystalized a reckless plan in her mind.
"Well, yeah. Probably." She shrugged. "It's not like there's a hard limit in this universe. I know there's a Saintess that uses my blessings somewhere else in the world. Probably an elvish High Priestess."
"So we're also dealing with a girl Pope too?" Your question was only half rhetorical. "Do you know where the other Saintesses are?"
"How would I know?" Herta flopped down, turning around and resting her head on your lap again. "The lore didn't really get into details about modern age Saintesses."
"You useless goddess." You muttered, giving her posterior another slap.
"Master is so wonderfully cruel to me~" She appreciated it.
"Sort of cheapens things to have multiple living Saintesses at once, don't you think?" You ignored her moans. You were more used to there being only one Saintess in shows that had the trope, though having more than one wasn't completely unheard of. Still you liked the standard cliche better.
"I agree." Herta nodded. "The more Saintesses there are, the less powerful they become. The less powerful they become, the harder it is to purge magical corruption. The lore said that there was only one Saintess back when the Demon Lord was around. She single-handedly purged tons of corruption. But then she got beaten before she could join the Heroes' Party, and the world was without a Saintess for a few years."
"Did she straight up die?" You were a bit surprised.
"Well, no. She got captured by a magic crystal, body and soul. Sort of like what happened to Yumi, except way stronger and the crystal was life-sized and her body was also encased in a magical crystal."
Her mention of the ghostgirl made you consider what Yumi was up to. Yumi insisted on remaining in the castle at least until it was dark outside, despite getting multiple offers and chances to accompany you and your wives. Right now she was likely reading and practicing with the magic crystal wand that was once her prison. At least the ghostgirl now had some company in the form of Bertha, affected by morning sickness as she might be.
"Eventually," Herta continues "A bunch of Savants freed her with the help of the Everlasting Empire. And then she led armies against the Demon Lord, and then they all defeated the demons and killed the Demon Lord.
