Some are basically younger Millennials. Others were damaged beyond repair by iPads, Gen X helicopter parents, lack of core coming of age experiences, etc.
In my experience they do lean heavily into the escapism aspect of TTRPGs. Which I suppose is fair, they realize they're doomed so they're less jazzed about playing an angsty vampire or burdened everyman or whatever than someone born in the 70's or 80's would be.
