Wares Blade is a showcase of Hitoshi Fukuchi's best work. (Folks may know him as the designer of the Flag from Gundam 00, the new Destroids from Macross II, and other stuff.) I tend to think he's among the worst mecha designers in the industry, but he's really really well suited to fantasy mecha.
