>is there some reason twilight forest is infamous? is it just in every magic pack?
Just that. It's one of the best dimension mods for the game, and for this very reason it often gets mindlessly thrown into every modpack. Hexxit is what got me into adventure modpacks and ruined almost every other adventure modpack because of how shit they are in comparasion. The perfect place to start. There is no quest book, but most of the progression happens naturally. Getting stronger and killing things is the entire point, there is no tech whatsoever. The general end goal is killing every boss in Twilight Forest, but you can come up with fun challenges yourself. There are forum posts that can give you some ideas and pointers. The variety of weapons, armor, and magical items allow for many playstyles, giving it a heavy RPG feel where you "choose" a class, build your character, and even roleplay, somewhat. It doesn't overwhelm you with mods, some minor items overlap (I don't think MineTweaker even existed when Hexxit was released), but overall the mods complement each other very well. The only problems I have are
>inclusion of stinker's is completely unnecessary, there are tons of weapons and tools that are way more fun to utilize
>enchanting plus undermines harken scythe, a soul/necro/biomancy mod, by providing a much easier and less fun way enchant items
>infernal mobs, a mod that makes some vanilla mobs "legendary" by giving them superabilities, can be complete bullshit early game, but it's avoidable later on
>some items basically do the same thing, but it's not anywhere near a point where it feels bloated
Honestly, I can't recommend it enough. You'll raid dungeons, towers, and pirate ships for loot and experience, experiment with a great variety of items to find what you have the most fun with, fight bosses to test your might, and once you're brave enough, step into a new dimension with even more stuff to explore. It's my favorite modpack to this day.
