Almost immediately, the giant tree burst into life, as if reacting to the faun's presence. It seemed like the preliminary info was correct and within a few days there was a nice plot of presumably fertile land around it. Mullion collected some samples of the dirt, bark and sap, branches and roots as well as some leaves and put them in a capsule to send back to her superiors. Hopefully they would organize a return trip... eventually...
The daily space life was not at all what she had expected or wanted. It was monotonous and boring yet difficult and tiring, not to mention the very real risk of death! And there's no shower! But worst of all, the terrible feeling of isolation, so so far away from anyone else.
As if the asteroid itself had heard her whines, Eros discovered traces of previous human activity in the caves while setting up her water supply. Perhaps an old excavator or similar machine and a wall, certainly man made, possibly hundreds or thousands of years ago. Still, there was much more work to be done so she decided to return to it later.
