If you have to hold it in one hand 45 degrees is actually pretty stable and correct, it's holding it completely sideways with the wrist bent and no stance that makes ghetto shooters so renowned for poor accuracy. You want both thumbs pressed together on the side of the gun opposite your trigger finger and below the slide (you don't want it to bite you) with your off hand's fingers curled around the main hand's on the grip, if that makes sense. It's kind of hard to describe in text.
