Shinbo literally is the entire studio. Everything people know or think they know about the "SHAFT style of animation" is just Shinbo's direction and flair. Since he stepped back to his advisory role (soft retirement, they just throw some storyboards on his desk with a fat check and he gives them the thumbs up to put his name on it) the only thing of note to come out of the studio has been Dameninja, which is noteworthy simply because it's loaded with directoral tropes he established. His protege Itamura left the studio for freelance work so this is all we have left. SHAFT is a shell of its former self and I fear for its future.
