yeah that's the thing, nigel is making all these MAGA announcements but it'll still be years before any elections actually happen
that being said, it's very good that he has pushed the british public remarkably to the right on the issue of immigration (obviously it was helped by migrants raping and stabbing but)

in 2020 everyone decided
>hey we should leave afghanistan it's a graveyard of empires
because the military under biden was incompetent (water delivery person btw), the withdrawal was very messy and chaotic. a lot of afghans (some who helped us, most who didn't) wanted to leave afghanistan because the tallyban was going to massacre anyone who had involvement with the allied forces (this mostly did not happen despite claims)
while you know the US side of things, this also happened in the UK. apparently in 2021 a soldier in the UK military accidentally leaked over 20k names and addresses of afghans who applied for this program. this was a huge problem: if the tallyban somehow got a hold of the list, they could systematically eliminate all collaborators (which again did not really happen).
as a result, the UK government applied for a super injunction (for the first time in history for matters like this) to ban all and any reporting on the leak. then the UK supercharged the movement of afghans into the UK, all without reporting on it to anyone (because it was against the super injunction)
every year they had to get the super injunction reapproved by the court, and in the last two hearings, apparently they argued
>telling the truth would hurt the reputation of the government
anyways it was finally exposed today and there's little to no recourse as tens of thousands of afghans are now in the UK (most who were not involved with helping UK forces) costing billions of pounds
democracy :D
