You could say there were multiple peaks across the decades even into the early 00s. It remained generally comfortable into the early 2010s albeit some people already knew since the GFC that home ownership was about to become nothing more than a dream. Compared to now I'd argue even the mid and late 2010s looks like a fucking paradise even though it was so shit.
Australia's going down the shitter so fast we'll be looking back on this year fondly in the future. Outlook is fucking grim.

>thats when nigger music took over from white pop and rock
Nah not really. Don't get me wrong it was certainly there in the 80s and 90s but Pop, Rock, and the Indie scene was dominant into the early 00's. A lot carrying over from the 90's with the likes of Silverchair and Powderfinger and new (at the time) bands like Birds of Tokyo, Eskimo Joe, Faker etc. And that's just on the Australian front. American and Canadian bands like Finger Eleven made it with their song Paralyzer as late as '07 in Australia.

Hip hop and rap really didn't gain traction in the mainstream Australian market until the 00s and only really kicked off towards the later half and 2010s. Everyone wanted to root Fergie and Beyonce was actually kinda hot in '06 when she went with the Southern look on her B'Day album. I also recall OPTUS running ads for Rhianna.
