This is why I lament the new direction of the main story and agent backgrounds
This kind of writing was fine when the game didn't take itself very seriously, when the main story was completely unhinged kino and the characters were just goofy
But ever since 1.4 everything is supposed to be super serious and the agents all have le serious and tragic backstory
The shallow writing just cheapens the whole thing and while silly characters with shit writing can be cringe-kino, """deep""" characters with shit writing are just cringe
Same with the main story, it just ruins the mood when it takes itself seriously but looks like it's been written by / for 5yo kids
I prefered when the story was shallow, but goofy and stylish
