Well, actually, the film is smarter than most people would believe. The core message of the film is about minorities dealing with white people and reparations. The MC is a Bee who gets with a white woman, but this was originally viewed as outrageous as a minority dating out of their race. This follows more to it becoming popular before the George Floyd protests, as in the movie, a grand mother has 4 cops jump her for eating Honey and pressing down on her neck where she says "I can't breathe". This made the impact of George Floyd's death much stronger in the younger generation as kids watched the Bee Movie for a year due to meme culture. So when something as a joke is on the TV as a real event, it makes people more active. I'm not joking about this, some of the leaders of the BLM movement cited the Bee Movie as being a big influence for the protests becoming as massive as they did while it was happening. This also fueled some conspiracies that George Floyd was manufactured.
