Sim set up is overrated to begin with. If it actually worked, teams would only need one practice session to verify the car is put together and all aero design would be done in CFD without wind tunnels.
I think F1 as a whole right now is suffering from too many engineers who have the "well the sim can do everything with 100% accuracy" mentality, much like Nikolas Tombazis did at Manor (?)
