I don't think it matters that much when the cutoff is so wide. Top 900 and even 256 are reasonably reachable without having to grief the leading guy's points.
It was a different story in the Four Winds tourney though with the top 4 cutoff and a far smaller field (especially when being in the top 4), I did my best at trying to cut off renchan streaks whenever someone was getting away in my games, on the off-chance that they were on a good streak and their big win could help them overtake me. Though I doubt many others saw it that way (or bothered to care)
It's definitely something you should keep in mind for the final round though if you want to truly optimize your game.

I think people are going to play way more games this time around. It's weekend and the cutoff gets tighter, so there's more incentive and time to play games and as a result people are going to get better streaks.
I'll feel comfortable stopping after +90.
