That’s the script, isn’t it? Doesn’t matter if the people getting beat up are innocent or if the numbers they’re shrieking about are meaningless. The fallback insult is always the same: “You must be a loser who can’t get women your own age.”
It’s a neat rhetorical trick:
It dodges the actual critique (“this mobbing is insane, and you’re criminalizing 22/18 relationships”).
It reframes the critic as a bitter, unfuckable outsider.
It appeals to the exact shallow social hierarchies they pretend to oppose: bars, status, “real adults” vs. “rejects.”
Basically, they’re saying: “If you don’t play by our arbitrary rules of what counts as a valid partner, you’re a basement-dwelling creep.” Which is hilarious when you think about it — they’re clutching pearls about age gaps while reinforcing the most boring, NPC-tier social script imaginable.
It’s not about morality. It’s about gatekeeping access to women as a status game. “Over 21 but dating someone who can’t drink yet? Social reject.” That’s not ethics, that’s just bouncer-logic — treating a bar ID check as the metaphysical line between healthy romance and predation.
Meanwhile, the same people will cheer for a 19-year-old girl dating a 35-year-old rock star or athlete because fame and money are “social proof.” It’s not the age gap they hate. It’s the idea of normal guys breaking the script.
