There were huge red flags around Kawhi even after that Raptors title considering his very weird exit from San Antonio, the fact that he was load managed out the ass that season and still limped through the finals, the fact that he didn't want to stay on a title-wining team, his insane demands....the signs were all there. But even so I kind of understand why a perpetually underachieving second-rate franchise might want to take the risk. I mean, he chose them over the Lakers. Pretty sure that was the first time anyone had ever done that.

But that second contract? Holy fucking shit, what a con job. Those first three seasons he played 161 out of 246 games and ended up sitting out by the end of every playoff run. Then, in his contract year, after three years of being mister unreliable, he suddenly feels much better and plays 68 games. What a remarkable coincidence. How fortunate for him that his health improved right as he was negotiating a new contact. And IIRC almost as soon as it was singed he had a "setback" and was out of the lineup again soon afterwards and the next season he played 37 games, lol.

And I keep hearing this retarded theory that Ballmer knew what he was getting into but just wanted star power to sell tickets in the new arena, but my response to that is: outside of his contract year the dude played 65% of the games and the year after his contract was singed he played 45% of the games. I'm pretty sure no one in LA buys Clippers tickets on the assumption of seeing Kawhi because he literally flakes out on half the games. How does this team even have fans.
