Do Russians ever look around the world, see that their only allies are shitholes and dictatorships like NKorea or China or Mali, and think "Damn maybe we are actually the bad guys here."

I've wondered the same about the USSR, but at least the USSR had an ideology and a "higher goal". What exactly compels the Russian today?
