Dunno what you're missing, depends on what you're trying to achieve and you've only shown us your img2img – is that what you're doing most of the time? That gpu is what's limiting you the most. 20 steps is respectable though. Some models can handle 8 steps or lower, but they might not be the style you want and I'm not an expert on these in any way. If you want to get a higher resolution you could try tiling. If you want better faces, try a face detailer. If you want to detail/change things by hand, add inpainting.
