Pretty much, yeah.

When you really get down to it, the essence of masculinity is expendability. It's the single primary defining characteristic of the sex across every species. For population growth, you need a whole bunch of women and... a couple of men. It doesn't really, actually matter very much how many men you have, just a couple is mostly fine as long as you don't bottleneck too badly.

It really does inform all of the subtle psychology behind gender roles. Women and children first, because men are expendable, and everyone is wired to know it. Your job is to provide, protect, your value is not inherent, it's earned through your skills and capabilities - what you bring to the table.

Now, suppose that you lived in a world where you got to choose. We don't actually live in that world of course, not yet. You and I both know the numbers on how many trannies manage to pass. But the idea is there. That you could choose. And one day the technology will actually catch up, and you probably will be able to choose, for real; why would you opt to be the expendable sex? Unless you live in a sexual assault ridden third world shithole, it's just making life harder on yourself.
