I work in fraud and identity theft for Wells Fargo. All day every day I'm handling the result of Indian fraud. More than the Chinese, Filipinos, domestic and Nigerians combined, it's all India out there.
Lately our CEO has been opening countless centers in India despite the fact that Wells Fargo is a domestic-only bank with American-only customers. You can't even have an account even if you're an American citizen and your primary address is abroad.
And so, we give Indians unfettered access to our systems and accounts. And every day our customers, some of them with us 30, 40, 50 years, ask me doe-eyed how their information could've become compromised. What mistakes had they made that India got ahold of it?
I need the job, so my answer is veiled. "Maybe some big corporation you do business with has an open relationship with India. You should probably check if some institution that has your private details like Social Security is announcing Indian sites being opened. That's probably the link."
Don't bank with Wells Fargo. Charlie Scharf is just handing your personal details out to jeets.
