Sixty-three-year-old Russian pastor Nikolai Romanyuk received a 4-year prison sentence for calling not to "fight for any tsar" back in 2022. He was found guilty of "calls for evasion of mobilization" and "activities against the security of the Russian Federation."

Romanyuk was arrested last fall; during the searches, law enforcement officers broke down the doors of prayer houses and forced parishioners to lie face down. In pre-trial detention, the pastor suffered a mini-stroke and lost hearing in one ear.
