As always, the message was retconned by grifters post-facto. This is true for nearly any profound teaching. Look what mass exposure has done to Buddhism - same grift, different flavor.

Reality is complicated, with all kinds of threads that overlap, weave through one another, and transform through time. Like I mentioned before, people want a simple narrative, good guys and bad guys. I think it's a bell curve thing - if you consider the level of abstraction and complexity of thought a person of average intelligence is capable of - at least a third of all people are less gifted than that. Very few in relative terms have the bandwidth to discern the infinite gradient between absolutes.
As far as my own identity, it's complicated. I don't follow any main stream spiritual tradition or practice. You could call me a deistic monist. The closest philosophies you might recognize would be dzogchen, zen, and non-gnostic hermeticism. I've written quite a bit about this but rather than inundate you with minutia - essentially I believe that the most high is an emergent quality of the entanglement of all things, by the same token that human experiential qualia arise from multiple entangled systems, neurological, linguistic, symbolic, sensory, etc. I believe all things and potentialities are prismatic refractions of a semi-static universal field that hermetic teachings call the casual realm.
