Oh hell yeah, the 2D promo looks incredible. I love the lack of realism in it's hand-drawn refractions. This stylized, tone-shading light refraction looks great, particularly on Cinnabar's collar here. The TV show just has boring realistic lighting. It's still not out of the question for this to be adapted in 2D. It could get a 2D OVA or movie where there is more breathing room budget wise.
