Messi's a better overall player, more complete, especially as a playmaker and not just a scorer, though he's almost as good as Ronaldo at that, also winning the World Cup for Argentina and performing so well sort of settled the debate. I'd still argue that Ronaldo's a lot cooler as an icon and personality, and his longevity, and just the fact he managed to compete with Messi, is cool.
