I can understand that but I would advise you put yourself in the context of first half of 20th century europe. Art was dominated either by rotted aristocratic academia that ran on principles set up over 400 years ago while the only alternative was abstract degeneracy combined with dadaism which spoke even less to everyday man. No country every devised a topdown strategy to make art available and communicate to an everyday man as effectively as soc-realism. It may look bland today, because today is all about talking to and subverting your average joe, but back then it was revolutionary (as was everything with commie thinking)
