It isn't "sudden", it was encroached on since the beginning. When you faggots called us conspiracy theorists or pedos we told you it will going to end up this way.
I remember 10 years ago when I was employed as a cybersecurity specialist and frontend dev told me "oh why are you so obsessed with privacy? I have nothing to hide...." when I knew he lied to his employer and had multiple remote jobs which would land him a firing. When I mentioned that he flinched and claimed I was blackmailing or threatening him. NPC level logic, obvious frontend behavior.
For those willing to listen:
Acceptance of cognitive dissonance, especially on the topic of privacy starts with disassociation. Make people so disconnected with their own body and emotions that they can't discern right from wrong intuitively and then you can brainwash them into just repeating the party lines. Feed them bullshit food, push their emotions back and forth until they're "loose" etc etc. And the party line (whether it be left or right wing) is to push for totalitarianism due to chaos of individual power that can destabilize the system. One tech knowledgeable person can easily shut down US power grid (for instance 6 transofrmators in middle of nowhere that whole of US power grid relies on, easy to shoot down with guns) Since 1800s were hyper-capitalistic, 1900s socialistic, 1960s onwards state regulated socio-capitalistic, early 2020s we already have semblance of populism of socialistic kind we will see coming into fruition. Klaus Schwab has Lenin bust in his office, Satya Nadella had marxist-economist parent ..... so it's obvious that the elites see the shift will happen. They're hedging their bets. All revolutions (faked or real) will have some bloodshed on their hands, that is the lubricant of the cogs. Most likely there will be a transition period of cyberpunk-esque dystopia that was heavily propagandized into subconciouss of the normies
