It's not just zoomers and it's specifically a "stare." It's that they don't know how to acknowledge another person or understand basic greetings like "hello." It's autism without the autism. It's the failure of gen X and milennial parents allowing kids to have unfettered 24/7 access to the internet coupled with covid fucking up their ability to interact with other people. If you are a "normal" zoomer you shouldn't take it personally. There are still plenty of young people who can interact with people. It's just funny to me how surprised people are by this. What the fuck did people think would happen? This is the first generation that has grown up since toddlers that were raised on screens and now we're seeing the result of it. I first noticed this with my friends teenagers where I'd be at the house and they'd come out of their rooms to the kitchen or whatever and I'd casually off hand be like "oh hey, how you doin" and they'd look at me all startled. My boomer mom has been talking about this too with zoomer customer service people not acknowledging or knowing basic manners. I don't even totally blame zoomers, it really is gen x and milennial parents that allowed this to happen.
