Just because she's a villain doesn't mean she's heartless. Take Luna as an example, she only turned into Nightmare Moon because ponies slept through her night, and if given the proper recognition for her duties as princess of the night I'm sure Nightmare Moon herself would at least reciprocate some of that respect to her subjects.
